ST Gearbox Retrofit

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I drive a MK3 Focus 1.5 petrol 182ps. Looking at doing some modifications to the car that will increase the power. Does anyone know if the MK3 ST250 gearbox fits straight on to the 1.5 engine ow would it require a lot of changes?

TIA

Baz

It's the same gearbox fitted to the Kuga with the 4 pot 1.5 EB, so there must be a way of mating them up.

So the Kuga has the ST250 gearbox? The bit that throws me is the ST has a cut out on the gearbox where as the 1.5 doesn't. I'm not sure without getting a look at an ST whatgoes in the place of the cut out.

The top is th ST the bottom is the standard 1.5.

If the Kuga 1.5 used it then just use the Kuga bellhousing and gearbox. It’s designed to fit. You will probably need the ST shift cables etc. but even they might not be the exact lengths due to your different engine (unless all engine mounts are the same). You’ll likely need the ST drive shafts.
