Help !!!! 2000 1.8 Tddi Focus Cuts Out At 3000 - 4000 Rpm

Featured Replies

Hello,

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated on this one...

Currently have a year 2000 ford focus 1.8 tddi with 79k on the clock. It was originally a non starter due to a fuel pump problem, but has had 3 reconditioned pumps fitted and coded and is finally driving. it is fine to drive normally, but when asked to accelerate hard above 3000rpm, it cuts out all together and gives a flashing glowplug light at the same time. it has been on a number of engine diagnostic computers. the first said it was a faulty throttle pedal. thats been changed but it hasnt fixed the problem.

Any ideas??

Thanks

the flashing glow plug light means the cars gone into safe mode thats why it wont go above 3000rpm thats to prevent damage to the engine usually it is the throttle pedal sensor that causes it in all honesty the only diagnostic machine to take it to is fords there will be codes in the system but not all machines can read them
