Can i use a 1.2 alternator in a 1.6 ka?

i have a 2005 ka winter edition. it needs an alternator. its a 2005 model 1.6

can i use an alternator from a 1.2 ka of the same or similar age? mk1 as i believe mine is.

are they the same or is the 1.6 version more powerful than the one fitted in a 1.2 ka?

    I don't know the answer but would assume the 1.6 to have a more powerful alternator.  Especially if it's a high spec model with more electrics as well.  Alternators will all have their amp rating written on them, so it should be easy enough to check yours against the potential replacement.
