boot opens when it wants to

Hi everyone.

I have a 2005 streetka and when pressing the button on the key fob to open the boot the solenoid works. with the boot closed one can hear the catch moving but not enough to relise the boot catch.

I have to press the button 2 or 3 times.it does work but only when it wants to. with the boot open, pushing the lock down with a screwdriver then pressing the button on the remote I can see that the solenoid works but sometimes it don't pull the catch over enough to open the boot. do you think the solenoid is faulty? the cables are steel, I cannot see them streching. thanks
