Mk 4 Mondeo Water runs out of tailgate when opened after it’s been raining

Featured Replies

After it’s rained when I open the tail gate water runs out of the corners of the tailgate at the rear if not careful you get wet, their is no damp in the boot space itself, has anybody had this problem and or know where it gets in and a fix.

That's normal. I assume you have the pre-facelift model....there was a Ford modification to add strips to both sides of the tailgate to help with this, but it doesn't really work. Can't remember what model years it is applicable to though. Mine is a 2011 facelift and has the strips, but it doesn't stop the water from running over and in to the boot...I keep a cloth in the boot for mopping up. 😉

I have no problem with water in the boot just with it running out the 2 corners of the tailgate when I open it
