Ford Mondeo Sync 3 - no Longwave!!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Wondering if you can help please... Just picked up a 2019 Ford Mondeo Titanium from Trustford that comes with "Sync3" and sat Navigation. Upgraded from a 2016 Ford Mondeo Titanium with "Sync 2" and sat navigation.

Here's the thing - I do a lot of driving in France and listen to Radio 4 via Long wave 198 LW,  (not because I'm a sad old *****, I hasten to add)  but because it offers news, sports and English dialogue and  beats listening to all those crap French radio stations on the drive down. (and because dab radio is completely useless anywhere in the continent). and because I receive it all the way down as far south as Bordeaux and beyond, or at least I did ;-(

Anyway on sync2, long wave, no problem. (although ford had done away with the actual radio band "long wave" you could still access by going to Sync2 then selecting the radio band -  AM (medium wave) - and going low frequency - past 500, 400, 300, (you get the picture), into to Long wave frequency and of course to Radio 4, 198L.

However, Sync 3 - not possible it seems, no Long wave band (ok) but try going to AM frequency and below 500 it skips back 1600 and round in a loop.

Any ideas, have Ford kindly decided LW is no longer required or have they missed a trick here and developed a new system, but cutting out Long wave? I'm hoping theres a workaround, otherwise it will be a trip to curry's to  buy myself a portable LW radio for the car!!! cheers Ford!! :-)

****

ps I checked and updated the latest sync3 firmware from ford tonight, via USB, but alas, still no joy!!

additional info

Hi Nick, afaik Sync 3 will only let you source radio input from DAB, FM and AM - that's certainly the case with mine.

You may have been better posting on the Mondeo, rather than the EcoSport, forum btw!😀
