FORD MONDEO III 2.0 TDCi stalling

Featured Replies

Dear All.

My old trusted partner (Mondeo MK.III 2.0 TDCI from 2005) has started stalling and shutting down when I - on a rare occasion - gives it full throttle with a hot engine to clean it out.

After that the Glow Plug Indicator turns on and it shuts down.

I can restart it after a few minutes break.

Any hints or thoughts on what it could be?

Regards, Jan.

Could be lots of things. You need to interrogate the ecu 'cos a fault code called a PID will have been logged. Invest in a code reader, there's lots of rubbish ones on the bay, but you can get a decent one for sub- £20 from Tunnelrat electronics. If you've got a Windows laptop you can get one to plug into it, else I think they do an Android based one... hopefully someone on the forum will clarify. Or you can email tunnelrat as they are UK based and very helpful. Once you have a code(s) come back here and we'll try to help you further.

Thank You so much, nicam49.

You're welcome 🙂 got the above a bit wrong... the error codes are called DTCs, not PIDs.... dunno what either of 'em stand for tho 🤔

PID = Sensor (i.e. the thing(s) you might want to monitor in Forscan)
DTC = Error code
