Hi All, I cant find any response to this post.  I have one that is, I guess, 6 years old and is Faulty.  Does any know where I can take the car in East Kent, as the local dealership cant help nor the tow bar fitter recommended by that dealership.  PS the constant bleeping is not very nice so sooner the better for me.

We rarely see any posts about the retractable towbar, let alone positive responses.  Either they're generally fairly reliable, or there weren't many fitted.

I can't recommend anyone specifically in your area but would suggest trying either a Ford specialist or even an auto-electrician next.

The towbar system can't be that complex.  Essentially it'll just be a few sensors and a motor.  I would have thought Ford's diagnostic system could at least provide a fault code as to which of those might be causing the problem.  If not, will just have to methodically go through plugs, wiring, sensors etc, make sure everything is clean and tight until the cause can be found.

If you don't use the towbar, you could pull the fuse for it to stop the beeping, as long as the fuse doesn't cover any other circuits.

Many thanks I'll try all the above, though it was a Ford dealership I tried first,  I'll just have to try another one.  I have devoted this morning to trying several options but locating the fuse is proving a challenge too.  thanks again.

The towbar module fuse is underneath the battery fusebox.  F78 40A.

Power Distribution Box - Bottom
There are fuses located on the bottom of the fuse box. To reach the bottom of the fuse box:

Power Distribution Box Movement

  1. Release the two latches, located on both sides of the fuse box.
  1. Raise the inboard side of the fuse box from the cradle.
  1. Move the fuse box toward the center of the engine compartment.
  1. Pivot the outboard side of the fuse box to reach the bottom side.
