Mattmickeyj 0 Posted Monday at 06:07 PM Hi all, I’m new here and hoping some may share their experience. My wife has a 2011 C-Max 1.6 diesel. Yesterday whilst driving a Steering Malfunction warning appeared, however, it still functionEd for the remainder of the journey. We stopped and started the car and then a steering malfunction - service now red warning appeared. The steering is incredibly heavy and completely un-driveable. I have taken it to a local mechanic who says It is the power steering motor, which is part of the steering rack and comes as a whole unit. Apparently, the part can only be ordered from Ford at a cost of £1,100+fitting as it requires ‘coding’. I have found the part at Eurocarparts for £320, is there a reason that part couldn’t be used? Does anyone know anything about the coding/recording element? Thanks all 🙂
pragmatix 641 Posted Monday at 07:03 PM I don't know about the coding but reconditioned units are available, have an ask in the Focus section as the car is basically a focus, a lot more traffic in there. 1 Mattmickeyj reacted to this
