Finding the MAS on 2008 cmax

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a ford cmax 2008 1.8 duratec HE 125hp. Does anyone now where I the Mass airflow sensor is located and how I can get to clean it?

Would appreciate any help. Thanks

Hi,

The mass Air flow sensor will be fitted soon after the induction filter box,

If its causing problems then given the age of the vehicle mate; it may be easier or more cost effective to replace the existing sensor rather than cleaning;

To clean it you need to use MAF sensor cleaner which is a sort of foam spray; there very sensitive things; don't scrub or even touch with your hands,

Also for the cleaning to take immediate affect ensure you have the radio code for your headunit then disconnect the battery for five minutes to allow the ECU memory to reset its parameters,

Alternatively it will take a week or two to learn that it's been cleaned

Thanks for the reply. I already bought the MAF cleaner and want to try this inexpensive option first since I bought the car really cheap for work purposes. Here is a pic of the engine bay, usually the sensor is on the intake hose or somewhere around there, but in this car I can't see anything.

Do I need to disconnect the battery before I clean the sensor?

I'd unplug the sensor before cleaning

Or

If you have the code for the headunit which should be printed on the inside of the manual cover;

then disconnect the battery instead of unplugging the sensor,

Best to eliminate the risk of short circuit when cleaning

So this is the throttle body. MAF is located in the front of the engine between the engine and the radiator. It's pretty hard to reach in this model of car. Need to remove radiator fan to get access. Or lift the car up and you might get better luck.
