Fiesta 1 ltr turbo ecoboost - Eco Mode

Featured Replies

Hi guys, does anybody know if it’s worth putting my new car into eco mode? I’ve noticed it’s far more ‘nippy’ when it’s not in eco mode and have only done long journeys so far whilst being in eco mode and even then the average mileage isn’t what it states on the website.

Also, I read on another website that apparently the 1 ltr turbo is like having a standard 1.6...to me that doesn’t seem right as I am more than a match now on the roads compared to other higher powered engines. I would appreciate anybody’s thoughts on the matter

Hi, Neil, welcome to the site. You really need to be posting in the appropriate model/subject forum when asking specific questions, though.

Lots of threads on here where eco mode is discussed - my thoughts (for what they're worth!) below:

No, as mentioned earlier in the thread, I don't bother with it. It's really a matter of giving it a try and see what you think. These normally dull the throttle response and limit the fan speed in climate control. Some people seem to like it, some don't - personal preference. There was an enormously long thread on another forum I use (non-Ford) about the effectiveness of these. Around half the members were convinced eco mode saved them fuel, the other half said it made them use more fuel and they got better economy without by judicious use of the throttle. In the end it all got so heated the mods shut down the thread!😀

Ecoboost versus other engines would depend on what other cars you were talking about. When the Ecoboosts first came out some years ago, they generally replaced the non-turbo 1.6. But nowadays, other than the odd city car, it's hard to think of anything without a turbo and most manufacturers entry level engine is a 1.0 turbo triple similar to the Ecoboost.

Apologies, I didn’t know where to post so I did it in the new members section. Won’t happen again. Thanks for your reply and comments, much appreciated

Howdo.

The comparison between the engines is always done on horsepower, so yes, today's small turboed engines have similar hp to older, bigger NA engines.

What the turbo has though, is far more torque than the na engine, even when not massively turboed.  Our 1.0 ecoboost has 100 PS, like our old Yaris 1.33 but it's much nicer to drive because of the torque.
