Foam strip at top of windscreen & misting up very badly.

2010 Mondeo MK4 Titanium X Sport Estate

So I was washing my car a few weeks ago and the pressure washer blasted a long foam strip out the top of the windscreen, in the gap where the windscreen meets the roof panel. It was simply just a long strip the length of the windscreen of foam, like a draught excluder foam strip for interior doors in houses.
Anyway it blasted it out the little groove completely, so I put it non the garage and forgot about it, and I think my dad had thrown it away. Since then, we’ve had some rainy weather and my windscreen mists up something terrible, literally has water droplets that run down the inside of the screen. Even on dry days but when it’s cold out in the mornings, it’s all misted up really badly.

Anyone know of this foam strip is supposed to be there, and where I can get another? If anyone can check their Mondeo’s and see if they’ve got a foam strip in there would be great. I’ve uploaded a picture of the gap I have now above the windscreen.

Thanks

I've a mk3 Mondeo with a similar foam strip across the top of the windscreen, and I've had a look on www.catcar.info  and can't see it on the parts drawings. Have a look yourself and see if it's included in the mk4 parts list. Enter your vin on the site to get the correct car info.

Can’t see it on the CatCar website either.

Nothing on my mk4 either and I do suffer the same issues with the inside of the screen.

Maybe it's part of the actual glazing process... have a word with a windscreen fitter if you can find one.
