67 CMAX 1.0 Ecoboost - Trip Computer Miles to empty suddenly dropped

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Looking for some advice or information if anyone has had a similar situation we’ve found ourselves in...

We have had our CMAX since July 2018 through a Ford Direct and until about a month ago a full tank of fuel would display on our trip as approx. 420 miles to empty and we’d prob get about 360 miles and reset again on the next time we filled up. Now when we fill the tank the trip is suddenly saying anything between 330-360 miles to empty?!

Is the miles to empty figure based on the actual fuel levels or is it a combination of this and the MPG as this is ridiculously low at the min at around 33MPG so does the computer take the current consumption into account when advising miles to empty?

All tyres have recently been removed and checked for punctures/seals etc and are fine. The car went in to ford to be looked at on 23rd Dec and apparently they couldn’t get the car to replicate the fault and had it on their diagnostic computer and couldn’t find anything wrong.

Any suggestions would be appreciated 👍🏻

Based on fuel left in the tank and MPG average over a certain period. Since some people get 50mpg, and others 20mpg, some use supermarket fuel, others v-power etc., the computer couldn't estimate your miles left based on fuel level alone. To be honest, 33mpg isn't bad out of a 1.0L ecoboost dumped in a heavy people carrier, although depends what type of driving you do.
