2007 C Max

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Noob here, so be nice please 😊

I bought a 2007 C Max Titanium yesterday. 55k on the clock. Took it for a test drive but never over about 30-40 due to lack of space or petrol. It drove well. Managed to knock £550 off the asking price.

Obviously though, now we've got it home, we've noticed one or two issues.

The most obvious one, and the one I'm most annoyed about, is the air intake hose is split. Massive hole in it. Ordered a new one so hopefully sorted this week.

However, we've also started noticing it being quite wobbly when at about 45-60mphs. Not really through the steering wheel either, more like the rear wheel is a bit loose. The showroom I bought if from did have the alloys refurbed, I'm wondering if they've left them unbalanced. But it seems to drink a lot of petrol too. Used 1/4 of a tank in not many miles. Would the new hose fix this, or is it something else? I do know the front suspension bushes (which ones haven't been identified yet) but all this seems to be from the rear of the car.

I've never owned a ford before, so I dont want to seem like I'm asking daft questions.

Cheers

Tom

Oh. And the wobblyness happens more under acceleration than anything else.

cmax petrol I would expect around 25mpg 32 on a good long run, what are you getting?
the wobble, I would look at the rear swinging arm bushes on the front edge where they meet the body under the back seat

What engine do you have? I suspect the rear bushes too, cheap to fix.

Sorry guys. Only just seen the replies.

Ended up being the offside drive shaft. They had replaced the gater a few months before, but clearly after the damage had already been done. Got the shop to repair it for cost (still £180 for the part and fitting).
