Grand CMax Heater

Featured Replies

Hello

Just a query on the 2014 1.6tdci grand cmax. When I put the internal heater on full the coolant temp drops and when I turn it to cold it returns to 90. Have also noticed the coolant dropping when slowing down at junctions. Last night when I pulled up coolant temp was on 90 turned the heat on and full fan and it dropped right back down to 60 at the bottom. Has anyone else seen or experienced this. I assume I have not seen it during the summer as the heaters are not on.

Regards

That may well be an airlock then.

Will the air work its way out? Or does it need looking at?

I think you just let the engine tick over with the header tank cap off.

Watch for bubbles coming through and Bob's your uncle.

Keep an ey on the level as you do so it can sometimes drop by a large amount, then you have to start over again

I would get it up to temperature then leg it cool so you can get the cap of, you can do it from cold.  you want to get the heater working too so the water does a full circulation

Is it wise to still drive it?

Probably, but I would spend half an hour sorting it

Hello just as an update on this thread for anyone. The car has been in with Ford for over 2 weeks and as of yet the fault cannot be identified. They have had the thermostat off. The water pump off. Driven with the radiator covered to get to temp. But as of yet still nothing they mentioned potentially replacing the radiator. I have noticed on this forum that others have had similar issue. Ford have been very good with this but has anyone else resolved these issues. They mentioned that there is a lower pipe that is staying cold. I did put the secret menu on and the actual temp only ever got to 80 degrees.

Any advice greatly appreciated
