P0610 Engine Not Starting

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I was hoping someone would be able to help me out here. I went to start my car today, only to find that it wasn't starting. The starter is working, but isn't turning over. It sounds slightly different than trying to start it without any fuel (if that makes any sense) and I have checked the fuel and the guage is showing some in the tank, after digging out my OBD scanner, i noticed that an P0610 fault was displaying, i have tried googling this but i cannot find many resources particually on fords, According to the code, it's a fault with the ECU? I have checked over all of the fuses, in the engine bay and passenger footwell and all apear fine. So i'm kind of stuck at this point.

Focus CMax 2004 1.8 Petrol

Anyone know what could be the problem?

Thanks in advance

If you're still having the problem, I may have a solution.

If the engine is turning normally, but refusing to start, try bump starting it (assuming it's a manual). If the engine springs into life, It's almost certainly the crank positon sensor. When the sensor is faulty the ECU can't tell what positon the pistons are in so can't fire in the correct order.

I've had this happen to me on a Saab 9-5 but this was pre-OBD so it took a while to find the problem.
