focus 2012 1.0 zetec. interior lights not working

Featured Replies

i’ve just bought a 2012 1.0 zetec in great condition. only thing I can find wrong is as per the subject.

neither of the two interior roof lights will go on. I’ve changed both bulbs and changed the fuse but no luck. a

I didn’t think it was the fuse anyway as the glove box light comes on and that I believe is on the same fuse.

Its not a big deal I guess but i was hoping there may be something obvious i’ve missed or can check?

thanks

You have set the roof switch correctly I take it?  There are 2 or 3 positions, one the lights come on when you open the doors, one they don't, can't recall what the third one does, if indeed there is one?

Thanks, I have indeed. I've tried all. Positions and none of them work 😞

When in the correct position does it come on when you press the fob unlock with all doors closed?

I have the exact same issue busby....2012 focus.. The LED indicator on the front light indicates when the interior lights are disabled or enabled...but in the enabled mode lights still dont come on... fuse checked, bulbs changed... Tested with a multimeter and  get voltage to the curcuit board bulb holder contacts.

My issue was the bulb holders. I confirmed this by shorting thr bare bulb over the two contacts on the circuit board.

To fix the problem....I used a small flathead screw driver and closed the gap on the metal contacts on the bulb holder, Also the two points where the holder makes contact with the circuit board were bent up slightly to make a tighter fit when twisted in to circuit board. On the bulbs i had to use two methods as one holder was badly worn. The worn one i bent the bulb wires around the side of the bulb and on the other i just bent the wires out away from the bulb. I have included some quick pictures...I hope that helps

tip: To pull the bulbs back out of the holder wrap a rubber band round the glass and just wiggle it out.

thanks Paul,

I’ll give that a check and let you know 🙂

Should have said also....i honestly did not suspect the bulb holders as the bulbs had a really tight fit in the holder...but unknown to me there was no contact between the wires on the bulb and the metal clips...only the bulb glass was holding them in tightly...so it looked fine to me

Hope you get it sorted

Unfortunately this didn't turn out to be the issue :(

I bent down the wires to be safe and made sure they were all making contact but no luck. Rear inside interior light and front interior light still doesn't come on.

My next guess is that there must be a cut wire which feeds them both? Any idea if the wiring would be going up the right hand side of the front windsheild or the left hand (passenger) side?

thanks

Take the fitting out off the roof leave the bulbs in and rig up 2 wires pos n neg off your battery and power up the fitting being careful not to touch your 2 wires together, see if it lights up you could use a cordless drill battery to check it but only tap it on as they are 18Volts
