Ford Focus Boot Issues

Hi guys, I've just picked up a 2008 Ford Focus and I'm not sure on the Boot. It feels like when I open it, it only opens maybe 1/2 a metre before I need to push it harder / help it up, there doesn't feel like there's much assistance on opening.

Having never owned a Ford Focus I'm not sure how the boot normally works - should there be much assistance lifting it? It stays open once it is lifted etc

    Get new struts they are simple to change you just pop out the metal ring then they pull off and the new ones just clip back on. Mines was like that now it just opens with ease.
