Front wipers doesnt work

Featured Replies

Front window wipers doesnt work. No action on any speed. Rear wiper is ok. I have checked the fuses (F10) and tested the relays (R8 and R10). Any suggestion?

I'm using Tapatalk so can't see what year your Mondeo is.

It's either the stalk switch or the wiper motor.

What happens if you try to use the washer jets?

The washer jets are working fine...

When you use the jets I take it the wipers still don't move then.

I'm not sure if there is one motor per arm or if there is 1 motor and then some kind of linkage. It would be odd for both motors to fail, and the stalk seems to be working because if it was the just the switch for the wipers then you would expect them to move when you clean the screen.

Mk4 2008 automat.

So the stalk is probably ok?

Is it one or two motors on the front wipers?

Where can I measure the wiper motor with multimeter? Do I have to deassemble something on the Mondeo?

I've now tested the wires into the wiper motor. It's just one motor. It was just one of four wires with power regardless if the stalk was on or off. Where can the problem be?

I tried GEM Module Self Diagnostics but nothing happend when I did as described in the link.

Is it possible to test the GEM module with OBD2 and some pc software?

I have installed PCMScan and ScanMaster-ELM installed on my computer.

Similar problem on my brothers 2008 focus. After checking everything I can only think gem  at fault. He needed the car with wipers working so we just tapped into live supply , put a toggle switch on dash to bypass gem and stalk switch. No intermittent and only has slow speed, and self park does not work, not ideal but at least he can use car. I checked mot manual to see if any issues. Does not say much in there about wiper controls. Does not even suggest the switch has to be in easy reach.
