powerbow1415
howdy y'all...i have just bought this manual mondeo estate..i had a choice of 2 in this varient of this model, the auto and this manual...i was told that the manual was a younger and better car..however, i am puzzled as to why the younger and better manual version does not have parking sensors or the auto-dimming rear view mirror,( both included on the auto varient of this model).....does not make any sense...disappointing. could anybody throw some light on why this is please? cheers guys
Jonro2009
I'm on the app so can't see your bio, what year and spec? Are they both the same production year or could one be after the annual build change. Not sure what ford call it but Skoda would say it's a 'MY16' or 'MY17' but both vehicles could carry a 2016 VRM.Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

billyboy
On my Mondeo they were optional extras and had to be specified when ordering so some will have them and some won't
TomsFocus
Zetec wouldn't have auto dimming mirror as standard, it comes as a package with auto lights & wipers. It's standard on Titanium. Parking sensors are an optional extra as above.
powerbow1415
cheers Tom....i have located a A/D rear view mirror from a ford breakers in nottingham yesterday. getting it tomorrow, hope it fits....do you know how one would be able to have parking sensors fitted,(if applicable), and roughly how much?. TomsFocus
I don't know if the wiring is in place for the mirror so let us know how you get on with that. If you're just after audible sensors then the aftermarket Xtrons kit is probably easiest. Easy to fit but not sure how much a garage would charge to do it. It's more work/cost to fit the OE optical sensors linked to the sync screen if that's what you'd prefer.
powerbow1415
cheers Tom..i will keep this post updated as and when..i will check out the Xtrons kit..not sure what option i want to go for yet..obviously price will be the factor...i just want sensors that i can hear within the car, not fussed about having it on screen.👍
powerbow1415
UPDATE...hi guys...just booked my mondeo in to Gates, my local Ford specialist, to have some rear sensors fitted...£349 all in...will take about an hour to fit...nice!!👍....i work nights so was asleep when the courier delivered the A/D rear-view mirror, so will pick it up from the PO tomorrow🙂
Jonro2009
Be aware that they will not show up on the screen, they will beep from a soundbox in the boot and the button to deactivate them will be a flimsy thing glued to the side of your centre console. 99% of the time they use an aftermarket kitSent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
powerbow1415
yes mate...not fussed about the screen read-out...they said that the parts will be aftermarket, but i figured that when Ford use aftermarket parts, they must conform to a particular quality that the company expect...they say they will run the sensors off the rear lights, makes sense. hence no screen read-out.
