Hello all hopefully someone can help me with this, Focus 2009 1.6 TDCI 

Today i was sorting the scuttle panel (were it comes away from the windscreen) and when i put it all back together obviously checked wipers and jets, all good. 

While i was at it i thought i would take a look at the fuses in the engine compartment as i have a drain from somewhere i popped them out one by one and visually inspected, all good. so thought i would take a look at the GEM fuses i didnt actually take any out just checked for continuity all good.

then when i went to take it for a drive noticed electric windows weren't working (i always have mine open a bit) , so checked everything else, 

No rear wiper, no rear washer jet, no front washer jet, no fog lights, no reverse light and Heated windscreen light is stuck on and i cant turn it off, i previously had a battery warning light that only came on with heated windscreen so i don't use it anymore. 

I have done the GEM test thing, everything chimed except window switches and washer button although i dont know if they are supposed to chime. 

Someone suggested the GEM is knackered i can get a 2nd hand one from a titanium (mines a zetec) for £30 but i read that remote locking wont work, how would i get that working again? i only have one key for the car also i cannot find any guides on how i would go about reprogramming a 2nd hand GEM to my car. 

do i need a new GEM ? what am i looking for ? and if so how do i do it? can anyone help please?

but scuttle panel did you get new double sided tape for it ? mines hanging off and needs doing

No i didn't use any tape i just cleaned out the channel with some all purpose cleaner and an old tooth brush, when i put it back together it all clipped in place. the trick is getting it started and fully clipped in on one side and go along the length of it carefully. its the second time i've had to do it so if there is a next time i'll use some tape or sealant.

so it just clips in place cheers hope you get an answer

 

Too much of a coincidence for the GEM to break after you've been messing with it lol!  

Probably just knocked one of the multiplugs.  Remove each one fully, check the pins are clean and dry*, spray a bit of contact cleaner if you like, then reseat them making sure they click in tightly.

*If there's any wet or damp around there, have another look at the screen and scuttle seal.

Thanks mate, Yes I know I thought the same lol, yes I fully removed them all earlier today and took it into the house to have a look, unit was dry as far as I could tell but the sticker with trim level etc on has clearly been wet at some point as it was all wrinkled. Gave all the contacts a clean and double checked everything was firmly seated, no change. 

The scuttle was about half an inch away from the screen all the way along that's why I was getting it reseated properly, passenger footwell had been getting damp aswell.
