golfpaul
Hi all. I've got a 2009 titanium x which has the drls- but they dont appear to work. Cant see any switch or anything else, I was under the impression they should come on with the ignition - could it be a fuse? Only had the car a week. Cheers. Frembrit
If it's got DRL's then it's not standard. The factory standard DRL's were fitted to the facelift model from 2011 onwards, and yes, they come on as soon as you turn the car on. As it has DRL's there are no sidelight bulbs in the headlight unit. Does it have a factory bumper with the drl above the fog lights? (like in my profile photo). If it has then it must have been fitted by the previous owner and not wired up maybe.
golfpaul
Thanks for the speedy reply - here is a picture of the lights. Having looked at these - and other pics online - they may wall be aftermarket. Would I be able to get behind these to the wires or would they need removing first to access the wires? Thanks. Frembrit
Best option might be to remove the headlights, instructions are in the handbook or found on youtube, (quite easy) and then see what's there once they're out of the way.
golfpaul
I'll do that - cheers. On another note, what actually are the differences form a mk4 to a mk4.5?
golfpaul
Taken out the headlights and had a look. These drl's are genuine ford - and are wired into.an original witing loom, all the wiring looks legit and neat. May the drls need turning on via diagnostics? Mark M
They may be genuine Ford but I don't think they were fitted at the factory, ETIS show "less daytime running lamps" and they weren't fitted to Pre-facelift cars. Odds are a previous owner has bought a pair and had them fitted but couldn't get them to actually work. Possibly fixable with ELMConfig as on page 2 of the central configuration there is an option for "dayrunning light" changing between standard dipped lights, dipped lights always on except in position P and daytime running light in position 0 and position P.
