Ka clock 'issues'...

Evening, all.

First posting here, so be kind to an old 'newbie', huh? 😃

We have an old 53-plate Ford KA. Only got 42,500 or so on the clock, but I know that's right, 'cos we've had her from new.....along with every single MOT, etc.

The original silver calcium battery lasted, believe it or not, right up till August last year. 16 years for a battery..... Unreal. Anyways...

Since replacing the battery, we've had an intermittent fault with the dashboard clock, and the tripmeter/odometer. The trip constantly resets itself, every time I turn the key, and the clock might be fine for weeks at a time, then will go through a spell of losing maybe hours a day, for days on end. Sound familiar to anyone?

We've had the usual catalogue of broken springs, front & rear, since we've had her, along with I don't know how many sets of lower suspension rubbers. (What on earth do they make 'em from, these days.....cheesecake, or summat? They don't seem to last 5 seconds.....) Astonishingly, this car is still on its original exhaust system. Coming up to 16 ½ years old, and still it's not blowing.... Luck of the devil, I think!

Anyways, if the clock/trip sounds familiar - I'm guessing somebody's heard of this before - any suggestions would be appreciated.
