1.6 Tdci Few Questions

Featured Replies

Hi everyone I’m Shaun from Hull.

Ive just recently purchased a C Max Tit X 1.6 Tdci for work purposes (Taxi). It’s a 2014 on a 14 with 21k. I have a few questions regarding the engine.

Sometimes when changing from 1st to 2nd the car seems to hold the revs, is this normal?

When changing from 1st to 2nd I sometimes get a dip in power and a bit of a stutter. However it does seem to of gotten a lot better since I had a spirited drive with an A Class driver.

Thanks,

Shaun.

160 views and not one reply, what is this place a library?!! Must be the quietest forum I have ever been a member of 😂

Maybe none of us have had that problem in here, you could ask in the focus section a lot more activity in there and lots of info on the 1.6 tdci which I belive is prone to injector problems a search may also help.

Im suprised you can have a taxi that is that old up here it's 4 years. Even for private hire.

I think it depends on the type of taxi, there are loads around here older than 4 years, I've also sold a couple of cars to be taxis at 7 and 9 years old (Vectra & Avensis).

Anyway, I had a Mk3 Focus with that same engine...the standard mapping was horrendous, as was the clutch and gearbox.  It was impossible to drive smoothly around town or in car parks.  So much so that I bought another car in the end.  There was an ECU update available that I could've tried but I doubt it would've made much difference.  The updates are only available at the dealers and you'll be looking at just under £100 for it to be done.
