I now have a 2017 Ford C-Max and I can’t listen to the radio unless the engine is running I’ve never came across this before with any car I’ve had what could be the problem? Cheers 

Do you mean engine running or just ignition on? You should be able to just turn it on with out ignition on just press the volume button it then should play for a set amount of time an hour I think.

It doesn’t turn on full stop unless the engine is running has anybody got a 2017 cmax to see if there’s is the same? Which to be honest I don’t think mine should do this I’ve had numerous fords and none have done this 

You should have a permanent live supply to the radio to allow a timed ignition-off functionality.
Possibly as simple as a fuse being popped under the dash.

The fuse that have anything to do with the radio are in the passenger side foot well and they are F67 (sync module, gps, information and entertainment display)  and F79 ( Audiio unit, hazard flasher switch and electronic finish panel ) hope that helps 

if Someone could tell me what an electronic finish panel is I would be grateful😀
