Phone audio level

Featured Replies

Recently purchased Focus ST-lineX with the B&O stereo upgrade. Connected iphoneX via Bluetooth first day and made call through Ford Sync which was fine and came through loud and clear through full speaker system.
Plugged phone in via USB for apple CarPlay and tried to make calls. Phone/Siri works fine for calls but now all calls come through only what seems a single ‘tweeter’ speaker at the front which is so low have to turn Audio volume up to almost full just to hear in the car.

Issue now seems to be with Ford sync and Apple CarPlay for all calls. Tried removing/reconnecting phone and a master reset. Calls worked normally for a day...then back to same low tinny volume issues for calls.

Anyone had similar issues? Managed to resolve the issue?

Many thanks 🙏

Sorry should have said:- it’s the Mk4 19 plate. Thanks

I’ve had same thing . Same car too. Was an important call, had to pull over , unplug the phone , made a normal phone call. Thru sync seems to be alright. Was thru Apple CarPlay. That was 2-3 weeks ago. I only use Apple CarPlay for Apple maps which isn’t often but I’ll be testing it (not much else to do!) my moneys on an iPhone setting, although that wouldn’t affect which speakers work.   Maybe someone on here will know  🤞

btw a lot of people say you must use an Apple cable or a Samsung cable etc. I asked an Apple genius about it , he said doesn’t matter if it’s an original cable as long as it’s a decent quality cable shouldn’t be a problem.

Is your parking sensors also tinny , higher pitched than normal?

Hi Alex, thanks for your reply. Hadn’t thought about Apple USB cable but know it has worked fine on previous occasion. Not been driving it much with COVID situation but my wife has driven it to work last 2 days (30 mile M-way round trip) and phone calls appears to be working. She was on a call when reverse parking the car and it did change then to the low/single speaker then back to normal once parked and reverse camera disengaged.

My stop/start has yet to work or lane depart. Keyless entry had been intermittent when come to think on it but has worked for my wife last 2 days.

The car was an ex demonstrator so imagine only done short journeys which could have drained battery and now impacting certain elements of the car?

Will let you know it goes next few days.

There’s loads of threads on here re that issue

Took me a while to realise (well someone commented on here!) that the lane depart button is on the end of the indicator stalk. It’s not a feature I use. S/S never works for some , doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for it. I rarely do long journeys and it worked perfectly for months.
back to OP if it happens again try a soft reset. Hold Power button and fast forward button for 5 seconds.

I have exactly the same issue on an ST with an iPhone SE2 - anyone ever find a resolution? Checked for SYNC updates but none to be found :(
