Screen wash leaking into rear passenger foot well

Featured Replies

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place, I filled my screen wash up yesterday, 2016 mondeo, tested it and the front worked fine but the rear didn't but left it to try again today, now no water coming from any jet and I have discovered the rear passenger foot well is soaking wet, I know it's screen wash as it smells of cherry and this is what I used.

Had the car about 3 months and it worked fine when I got it but this is first time I have filled it.

any ideas where this might be leaking in from.

thanks

On the plus side, you won't have to buy an air freshener for a while now...

The rear washer hose runs up the A pillar and along the side of the roof, then into the tailgate via a black rubber sheath.  Assuming there's no stain on the headlining, I'd be checking the sides of the boot carpet for dampness, and inside the tailgate where the pipe connects to the washer.

It shouldn't have emptied the reservoir though, so if none comes out you probably a second fault as well.  Can you hear the motor trying or is it silent?

Thank you, yes the motor is running and the boot is dry

Ok, that's the easy checks done then.  Next step would be to remove the B & C pillars plus the top of the door seals, to check the length of washer tubing along the roof.

ok thanks, will have a go at that
