Damaged front end / What are these parts?

Featured Replies

Ended up damaging The front end of my tit x sports. With all the optional extra like active shutter, front parking sensors, sports skirts etc.
I’ve managed to find replacements for the honeycomb grilles upper and lower, and a replacement active shutter grille.

I can’t figure out what these two parts are from, any one have any ideas, I can’t see any ford part numbers on either.

Thanks

looks like the under engine tray cover, an MOT failure if missing.

No, it's not a failure.

It's only mentioned on the MOT if it's there, and then it's to cover the tester as if the cover is hiding something dodgy they are not allowed to remove it to inspect.

Friend of mine had his car failed because it was missing, perhaps the tester was a bit over zealous, of which some can be. I have always been given to understand that any component fitted to a vehicle at the time of manufacture should at the time of the MOT be present on the vehicle, damage would be an advisory but missing would be a fail. Several that I know who de-catted their vehicle fell foul of the MOT as the requirement has now changed in that if a cat was fitted at the time of manufacture it could not be removed, consequently they had to put it back on of get a new one fitted in order to pass the test.

I'd have complained as looking at the MOT guidelines, section 6.2.1 Body Condition is the only reference for undertrays and it's to make sure it's securely attached.

You can't fail an MOT on an item that's missing, only if it's faulty or dangerous. I worked at a garage in Eastbourne many moons ago and a car was in for an MOT but failed as it's centre brake light wasn't working. Bit of a banger and trying to get a new led light was going take a while so we just removed the whole light unit from the car and it was passed.

Decats are a different problem though as they have a big impact on emissions (on petrols) just as a DPF does on diesels. They are also now specifically listed in the manual so have to be present.

Centre brake light does not need to be removed. The rules say if it’s not working and it’s been permanently disconnected it is not a failure. Also it says if not clear if disconnected benefit of doubt should be given to car owner.

True, but the point I was making was that if an item isn't there then it can't be tested so it can't be failed.... which is where this tangent came from, a failure due to a missing engine cover.

Missing undertrays/ covers are not an mot failure.

More to the point, I think this is the part that's required

Unless you've got an oil leak...they're ideal for catching that so it can't pool on the floor of the test bay!

In fairness, loose undertrays are now a Major aren't they?  Which might explain the confusion here.
