Engine Malfunction - Stuttering

Hi,

Hoping someone can offer some advice.

My 59 plate Kuga has started stuttering while driving, has cut out on me once yesterday and today lost all revs and "engine malfunction" flashed up on the dash but then disappeared immediataly. 

No engine or error lights, have plugged in a code reader but is not showing any errors. Other than the stuttering the car pulls, drives and sounds fine.

Any suggestions on what I can try before taking it to a garage please?

59 plate 2.0 Kuda TDCi.
