Ford KA plus active - silver trim chipping away

Hi, all. 

So I have a 2018 plate ford Ka plus active. I recently noticed that the silver trim underneath the front of the car has been chipped away, uncovering the black paint underneath. The car is 16 months old and I've only done 7000 miles. I take care of it and never drive anywhere to cause that type of paint damage. 

I just want to know whether other owners have experienced the same issue and what the cost may be for getting it fixed. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
