Vibration

Featured Replies

I am after some help please, I have a 1.6 focus blue motion and I am suffering very bad vibration when I accelerate. I have had all the wheels rebalanced and checked over and i have also had all my engine mounts checked. The issue starts when I am changing through gears and putting downward pressure on the pedal. If I ease off the pedal and keep it at the same position the vibration stops. There is no vibration when the car is in neutral and I am putting my foot down.

As anyone had this issue before

Wheel bearings. Warped brake discs maybe ? Have you had the tracking checked too .

I don't think it's a Bluemotion unless someone's dropped a VW engine in!  So is it a 1.6 Ti-VCT, 1.6 EcoBoost or 1.6 TDCi?

It sounds like a misfire to me, knackered diesel injector(s), cruises fine but can't cope with load on the engine. DMF is also a possibility as only showing under load.  And I would also suspect CV joints/gearbox bearings as well.

Can you be any more specific about the vibration?  It is a fast drdrdrdrdrdrdrdrd sort of thing, like rumble strips, or is it a slower knocking/juddering/hammering type of thing?  Do you feel the vibration through the whole car or just the steering wheel?

the vibration shakes the whole car, a mate of mine did say he thinks it could be the gear box. The car just judderes and is very uncomfortable. It does feel like I am just sat on oversized rumble strips

Which engine is it?  (Don't say it's a Bluemotion again lol)

If it's the 1.6 TDCi, DMFs rarely fail on them but gearboxes and injectors are both common.  I take it you don't get any dash warnings or limp mode?  That would suggest more likely a mechanical fault such as gearbox or CV joints.

Honestly, I think this is probably something you'll have to ask a local garage to diagnose rather than something we can help you with over the internet.  You could get an ELM cable/dongle and Forscan to confirm that there are no engine/injector fault codes first.  That'll be much cheaper and more reliable than asking the garage to plug it in and run their own diagnostics.

Haha Its a 1.6 ECOnetic 😂,  i am getting nothing up on the dash. I will have to take it into Ford for them to have a look at it.
