Indicator lights on dashboard issue

Featured Replies

Newbie here so hi all 👍👍. I bought my focus 08 plate 1.8 tdci a few months back. Alls fine but when I bought it the owner said the indicator lights stay on on the dashboard. I thought nothing of it and drove it away feeling quite happy. There's no problems mechanically with the car only the indicator lights staying on on the dashboard but not actually flashing on when the stalk is in the central position. They did have a camera mounted to the rear of the car which was connected to the reverse light which I disconnected but the reverse light doesn't work anyway. There are no fault codes, only one being DTC #00. So, any help would be much appreciated. I'm trying stuff before I start spending money needlessly. The car runs and drives great but I don't want it to be a money pit either. Any thoughts??

Don’t know the answer. I can say that based on my experience of a 2008 focus where the indicator flasher lights on the dash did not work, even though indicators on outside of car were flashing. They are controlled by the ms canbus. The dash has 2 computer signal wires coming from the main fuse box(bcm) under the glovebox. The signal controls the indicator  dash lights, the blue high beam light, the indicator click sound, the temp display(outside temp), and probably other stuff also. Electronically these are complicated cars.  And many suffer from bad soldering on the circuit board in the dash (32 pin connector socket)

If that’s the only problem I don’t think I would start disturbing things, you could end up worse off
