KNOCKING IS DRIVING ME MAD!!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Sorry for the shouting title but I could do with some help please! I have a knocking which at low speeds seems to come from the nearside front, this gets worse when I have a passenger in the front seat. (I know dont drive slow and bin the passenger!) I have had the rear trailing arm bushes changed and the drop links. Could it be the shock top mounts? or can you help with something that you can say definitely "YES!" Its a flangebucket! The low speed knocking is seriously doing my head in and short of rebuilding the complete front end wonder if you can help me.

Have you had a look in the anti roll bar bushes??? I used to have a prob just like that in my old Jaguar X-Type

Have you had all 4 drop links done? Often, you can't accurately pinpoint where  the knock is coming from. Also, have you checked the droplinks fixing bolts to make sure they haven't come loose in the meantime. I found with pattern parts the supplied bolts aren't as good at staying tight as the Ford  ones.

Re the above, for bolts read nuts.

memo to self:always proof read before hitting 'save'

Take a good look at the coil spring, it could be broken. Fords have a notorious habit of breaking coil springs.
