Injector/DMF problem

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I wanted to see has anyone experienced similar. As of about two months ago my 2009 1.8 tdci has developed a very rough start, the whole car shakes for upto one or two seconds before it actually fires up to idle, it's also intermittently has a vibration through the steering wheel after I fire it up. When the engine is warm it fires up and idles no problem. Mechanic reckons it's an injector or the DMF, he is leaning towards DMF but before I shell out an absolute fortune I want to make sure that is the fault.

Bit of background on the car: 1 injector was changed two years ago, it was caked in carbon, glow plugs were changed too. Timing belts and water pump was done 10k ago.

It may be unrelated but driving at about 1700-1750rpm the car has a bit of shuddering so I usually keep out of that rpm, this problem has been there over 3 years and got slightly better when the injector mentioned earlier got changed.

If anyone has experienced anything similar or can make an educated guess I'd love to know.

I'm leaning towards asking him to pull all of the injectors and test them before going straight to changing the DMF.

Thank you folks.

With the rough start are you seeing any white smoke?
