Disconnecting battery worried about computer reset?

Featured Replies

Hi! I was planning on changing the light bulbs behind the heating regulator and the regulator for where you want the air to come out (in the center console). I have to disconnect the car battery for this since im taking out the radio and disconnecting wires. I'm pretty new to doing car stuff myself so i was contemplating whether or not to do it due to the computer resetting.

I read online that the car might idle rough the first 2 days after resetting the computer since it resets to factory values and hes to relearn. The process itself to swap the bulbs might take me an hour or two since im a novice so i was thinking, is it even worth the trouble? Can anyone give me some insight in the ECU reset when disconnecting the battery for a prolonged period of time?

I've got a Ford Ka 1.2l 2010

Disconnecting the battery will not cause any problems. The car does relearn some things but you will not notice any changes while driving.

It is safer to disconnect the battery when working on electrics.
