Low profile tyres

Featured Replies

I just got this mondeo with low profile tyres and all of the tyres are fairly worn. I am wondering if it may be better in the long run to replace these wheels with standard ones and go to standard tyres. I would be happier with a more comfortable ride than a sportier look in the long term.crop.thumb.jpg.8fad836a01b91cac840d9546541530b2.jpg

Yes, if you'd rather have ride comfort than looks, smaller wheels is probably the way to go!

Just FYI, a couple of your wheel nuts have lost the caps, you'll need an 18mm socket to remove those ones.

I'm afraid not, the caps on these are thin metal and pressed on at the factory.  Once they fall off, that's it, there's no repairing them.  The only option is the replace the complete nut with cap.

The nuts still work fine without the caps on them, but they no longer fit the wheel brace that comes with the car, so could leave you stranded with a flat tyre.

These are the sort of nuts you'd need - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Oe-Quality-Febi-Wheel-Nut-46674-Febi-Bilstein/401755299848?fits=Car+Make%3AFord&epid=249490781&hash=item5d8a7b6008:g:wv0AAOSw57xcwJ9H

Thanks Tom. The list of things for this new (to me) car is getting bigger, I would normally go for the best quality in things like this but it may be a bit expensive at the moment. I may have to go with something like these for now

Do people still rob these type of wheels?, these look quite basic jobs

There are 4 locking nuts as well.

Thanks again for your help.
