Focus MK4 1.0 (125) Ecoboost Oil Pressure fault

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone.

Today I picked up my brand new Focus 1.0 Ecoboost (125bhp). Lovely car, however literally just after leaving the dealership I had a 'Low oil Pressure' warning pop up and the car lost power. I think it must have gone into some sort of safe mode as it practically wouldn't accelerate at all in third or fourth gear. After restarting the car the fault seemed to have disappeared. I have booked the car into my local dealership tomorrow for some diagnostics but still a little disappointed something like this could happen to a brand new car! Has anyone had any experience with this fault? I am aware there have been some threads on related topic so apologies if this has already been covered!

Many thanks

Mike

I believe there were some issues relating to the oil pressure switch as detailed elsewhere on this forum, but it’s odd that it’s still happening on brand new cars.

Depends how new the car is, could have been stood a while and be old stock.

Might be a faulty oil pressure sensor, as suggested.

That's strange I had a brand new 1 litre focus with this issue as well (was also an 8 speed auto). It ended up being an oil pressure switch. I too thought those issues were fixed but seems a few dodgy oil pressure switches are still out there!

Yeah I’ve seen this come up before but I’ve not suffered the same fault myself. Likely a known issue!

Thanks for the replies guys. I took it into my local garage and nothing came up on the diagnostics. The issues only happened that one time so hopefully just a random false alarm!
