Mark 3 estate, airbag light

Hi,

First post here, and it's a plea for help, be kind 🙂

I've had a 1.6 estate on a 14 plate (mark 3 I think) for five years or so now.

Just recently I had the cam belt done at 90K, and two new tyres. A day or so later, the airbag light is now on...

Does anyone know how I can fix this, please?

According to a friend who has a code reader it's the passenger air bag. His suggestion was to check the connectors under the passenger seat. I have looked at, unplugged and re-plugged (I think that's a word, haha) these connectors, and no change. As an aside, is the airbag even connected to plugs under the passenger seat? Surely the airbag is in the dash and/or the door isn't it?

Does anyone know if it's possible to work out exactly what is at fault, so I can replace it?

I haven't got the money to take it into Ford just at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Colin

Just as an aside, I work in electronics, so am happy measuring voltages, resistance etc, so if anyone has a wiring diagram of the car that would be a massive help. EDITED: Found a wiring diagram now 🙂

I've checked fuse 86 in the passenger footwell (it was OK not blown), I've disconnected the battery and put it back (makes no difference).

Can anyone help me with this please???

There are airbags everywhere these days!  Dash, seats, doors, pillars, even the roof!

Best way to diagnose is to use Ford specific diagnostics.  Forscan is ideal for the DIYer.
