2010 Kuga 1 ...Euro 5 engine not Euro 4??

Featured Replies

I have had a problem on my 2010 2.0 tdci 140bhp, with deceleration on a warm day tripping the engine light and causing limp mode but without a code showing! I bought a replacement MAP sensor using the registration but it was not the same as the one I went to replace. I searched images on Google and found an image of my existing one. It is for a Euro 5 but my vehicle is shown as being a Euro 4 engine. The engine has never been replaced. Any thoughts why? Waiting for the sensor to arrive to see if my problen is solved..

When you say "without a code showing", what did you use to read the codes (if any)?

Thanks for your reply. The AA used a code reader that supposedly works on all vehicles and no code was showing. I also went to a local garage and they had the same problem.

I have now solved the problem thanks to finding a picture of my MAP sensor on line. My sensor is a one piece sensor that incorporates a temperature sensor and it was this temperature sensor component that was sending incorrect signals to the ECU. I have replaced the complete sensor at a cost of £38.75 delivered UK and as a result:

My engine sounds smoother with no surging.

I do not experience limp mode when going down hill with no throttle engaged

Temperature and weather variances are no longer causing the limp mode to engage

My fuel consumption has risen by around 3mpg

From my research on line my problem was either very rare or the existence of two types of MAP sensor for Kuga 1 models 2008 to 2012 is a little known fact.

Generic scanners are about as useful as a GP, if your car has any more than a cold, you need specific diagnostics for it.

Forscan is ideal for DIYers if you get any problems in future.
