Visibility on Mk 4 estate

Featured Replies

Anyone else notice that the A pillars on the Mk 4 are quite thick, to the point that I find myself moving my head to see better when I approach roundabouts or junctions?  Its probably to do with fitting airbags and all the other safety stuff but a bit of a pain compared with my Mk 2.

Also the view out the back of the estate when reversing is not great - its a long car and the shape of the windows are angled upwards so the back is quite small.  I have front and back sensors but no camera and there doesn't look to be many options to retrofitting one into the existing screen.  I am still looking at installing a stand alone one with its own screen even if that clutters up the dash.

I've not noticed that on mine, I bet from now it'll start bugging me!

I'm lucky enough to have the camera on mine, I'm so glad I have, the wagon is such a big old beast I'm sure I'd be parking it by touch even with sensors!

Sorry if the A pillar will annoy you from now on!

I have a foldable towbar fitted but now I just keep it extended out so any parking by touch won't scratch the bumper.  One of these days I ill have to get out of the car when the warning display goes red to see how much space I still have at that point.

Well, I've noticed that the camera and sensors go green, amber and red at almost the same time. When the red sensors / camera line bleep / show, the bumper is about 2 inches away from a wall and the tailgate opens with the barest amount of space.
