I think I'm going to upgrade to sync 2 or 3 and have had a look at the guides on here which are superb. My question would be, I have the Sony version which I assume is better than the standard version. Does this stay the same with sync 2 & 3? Do they have different versions like Sony and standard?

    I’m the least technical guy on here. Upgrading to sync 3 ..surely impossible? To sync2 ..good luck.

    There are loads of guides on here to do it. I was just wondering if the units you can get second hand if there are different ones with different quality sound.

    The mk4 is the B&O on sync3 or the standard

    my pal has a 16 plate Mondeo, pretty sure he’s got sync2 Sony . 
    I could find out but your best bets people on here ..

    Bang & Olufsen in my day were the best of the best . Thing I don’t get is fitting a sync3 screen , you’d need a modem too.

    There's a guide on here for doing SYNC 1 to SYNC 2, and a guide for going from SYNC 2 to 3. I'm sure you could cobble the two together.

    SYNC 2 is Sony afaik, but I'm not sure how much of a sound quality increase you'd get, it's more for having the touch screen etc.
