Hi guys

61 plate petrol focus, ambient temp sensor isn’t working correctly, does this affect the cars running in anyway?

    I don't think so (your ecu may assume it's freezing outside and put more fuel in).

    It's not hard to change the temp sensor though.

    The gauge is showing hot so wasn’t sure if it would affect running.

    If you've disconnected the battery for any reason, it can take a few days before the temp becomes accurate again.  Don't ask why though! 

    Showing hot may affect the smart battery charging.  Showing cold may stop the AC compressor kicking in.  I don't think you'll notice any engine difference though, the PCM uses the intake air temp in the MAF for that.

    Unfortunately not the new shape anymore, the facelift mk3 came out in 2015 and the mk4 was released last year so yours is referred to as a pre-facelift mk3.
