Annoying rattle

Featured Replies

Can anyone help?
Bought a 3 year old Edge Titanium. Just out of warranty now. It has developed an annoying rattle somewhere along the passenger side . First started when vehicle was doing 60+ but now all the time. Garage could not find anything loose under the vehicle. Now telling me it will cost £125 an hour (probably + VAT) to investigate further. Anybody had a similar rattle problem and if so how was it sorted?

Someone mentioned seatbelt rattles the other day - worth experimenting with the tension on those?

There is a TSB for loose under floor sound proofing. New clips required (with springs) to stop the soundproofing flapping about. Should be quite straightforward to fix.

I mentioned in the thread on Parcel shelf rattle, about my rattle with the rear seat belt

You said there should be a small plastic slider fitted to the belt, and on the rear driver side there is, but its gone from the rear passenger side, hence the knocking of the clasp against the plastic side of the rear seat

Do you know if you can buy one of these "seat belt sliders" from Ford?

Thanks

I had exactly the same when purchased my car. As some mentioned above check the underbody panel. It is secured with a three plastic circular pins that are recessed into the panel. But if you tap the panel you can feel it move as the three pins are not tight.  I cut some some insulated wire, about a inch and half long and wedged it behind the clips to effectively take up the slack and it instantly cured the issue.

Message me if you need more detail.
