Hi everyone,

I currently drive a 58 plate 2009 focus syle 1.8 TDCI I've just changed my stereo to a ford fx navigation all working fine but when I went out tonight I've notice when I turn the lights on the unit does not light up red its just dark. The screen is lit fine just the red lights lights not.

Another issue bit chilly tonight so put on the heating had it on setting 2 hot car was up to operating temp but no heat was just blowing coldish air I've checked all the hoses leading up to the coolant bottle all hot checked for any visable leaks nothing was working fine 2 weeks ago so just wondering what that can be.

Thanks in advance

The heating issue sounds like you've caught the cable (that pulls/pushes a door open to control air flow around the heater matrix) when installing the new radio. I'd check around there first. The cable is the most common reason for no heat afaik.

I dunno about the lights though. Possibly a bad unit or pin loose on the connector as it's supposed to be plug and play. Personally I'd go aftermarket. Surely the map is way out of date now? If I remember right they were slow to navigate around anyway.

Just a update pulled the radio out checked cables manage to get the heater going but I wouldn't say it mega hot I've had the settings on number 2 and the heater set to front window vent would say its warmish not really hot is that still a issue with the heating.

Did you solve the illumination problem?

If not there is a 99% chance that you installed the wrong type of Travelpilot FX radio. On a Focus, C-max or Kuga the illumination of the Travelpilot FX is controlled by an analog 12 Volt illumination signal from the light switch. On a Mondeo, S-max or Galaxy the illumination of the Travelpilot FX is controlled by a digital CANbus signal.

When installing a Travelpilot FX from a Mondeo, S-max or Galaxy into a Focus MK2/MK2.5 the illumination of the radio will not work. The Focus MK2/MK2.5 does not communicate the light switch status on the CANbus network and the Travelpilot FX from a Mondeo, S-max or Galaxy can not handle the analog 12-Volt illumination signal.

In the end I put the orignal cd 6000 back in and bought a aux cable to play me music through me phone through me car and I've put the navigation unit on eBay.
