MK8 Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I recently brought a MK8 fiesta ST and not having cruise control didn't bother me, however I've just changed jobs and now do alot of motorway driving and would love to add cruise control in.

I have seen a pretty comprehensive guide for the Mk7 /7.5 and was wandering if anyone knows if this would be the same for my model.

I imagine the wiring might already be in place and I just have to pick up a new steering wheel with controls on it and activate it all though forscan

Any advise would be amazing.

Sorry if im being dumb here but I thought Cruise control was standard in all MK8 Fiestas? Even Zetecs?

and then there would be the option to upgrade to the Adaptive Cruise control?

Yes, I’d have thought cruise control was standard on the STs and adaptive cruise wasn’t even available as an option on the ST.

I can’t remember which version mk8 my parents have, it’s either style or zetec, it only has the speed limiter, Doesn’t have cruise.

The intercooler is in the way of the grill radar which is why you can't have ACC on the ST.

ST 2 & 3 should get normal cruise as standard, not sure about ST1?

They keep monkeying around with specs but from what I remember all STs had normal cruise at launch. I have a May 2018 price list which shows cruise on ST 1, 2 and 3 so would have expected the OP's car to have it.

I think everything had the speed limiter from launch, but you needed Titanium at least to get cruise.

Basic cruise is a doddle. Just buy the switch with the one extra button. About £60. Then programme the cruise in with Forscan. Watch this:

Does anyone have a link to this in english?

There's a link to a guide on the Forscan forum, If it helps:

I so wish I could understand Spanish….  Anyone got a comprehensive guide for a novice please

Did this on my 2019 Fiesta Zetec the other day.

My observations would be:

  • When removing the airbag, you have to scrabble around a bit with the screwdriver in the hole to release the tabs but essentially once the steering wheel is orientated so the hole is at the top you need to insert the screwdriver with the blade level horizontally, push it in at the top of the hole and scrape downwards.
  • The plastic surround around the switches is indeed very tightly seated in the rubber, pull slowly but firmly at the top then all around to remove.
  • In Forscan you need to change the value in 3 places BdyCM, SSCM and IPC - there are other options in the cruise control but I found that when I tried to enable ACC (Advanced Cruise Control) it complained about my front camera - perhaps it needs a more advanced camera than for the lane assistance. I ended up using just "Cruise Control".
  • When choosing the switch  in SSCM I didn't have a option for just H1BT-9E740-A*, mine had other model numbers in there along the lines of H1BT-9E740-A* / SOMETHING ELSE / SOMETHING ELSE AGAIN - this proved to be the correct choice.
  • I was using Forscan in Linux via WINE, observations specific to this are:
    • The BT adapter would not work, had to buy the WIFI one instead
    • Does not work using sudo (as another forum suggested), but does work when run normally using:
      wine FORScan.exe
  • I found that Cruise Control would not engage after applying the changes (nothing happened when I pressed the button when stationary, but the limiter still worked) and then restarting the engine - I thought the process had failed, but when I removed the key, locked the car and then went back in sometime later, it worked. When stationary the "Set" text along with the CC icon should appear at the bottom of the display. I also swore a few times but I'm not sure that had any significant effect.
  • I currently have a warning light for my airbag, but I've seen this intermittently before so not sure if I didn't insert the cable correctly when replacing the airbag, or if it's the under-seat connection, that I have read in other forums, can come loose. Will check this later.
  • I found the instructions in english that went with that Spanish video posted above, then I couldn't find them again, so I'm attaching them here: INSTALLATION CONTROL CRUISE FORD FIESTA MK8.pdf
