2016 Ford Focus ST Line wheel arch corrosion

Featured Replies

I have a 4 year old Focus in deep impact blue purchased at 1 year old. Cleaned car yesterday and found a 2 inch long patch of blistered paint work on the edge of the rear wheel arch where the panel meets the bumper.

Phoning the dealer tomorrow (Lookers) any idea what I can expect ? Will warranty cover it etc,etc

Unfortunately, although 'paint' does have a warranty, they'll likely weasel out of it. Especially if the blistering is simply caused by an unprotected stone chip. It always ends in a 'he said, he said' discussion. Paint is expensive to rectify, so dealers are keen to simply refuse out of procedure to put customers off. It depends on what kind of relationship you had with them when you bought it from them, and how the car was 'handed over', for instance, if the sales guy described paint in 'immaculate' condition Don't want to dishearten you too much, you could get lucky. Have a read of Ford's own Paint Warranty guidelines so you are forearmed...

As an aside, my neighbour literally picked his 10 year old Toyota up yesterday after getting a full body respray done under a paint recall! 'Blizzard White' apparently had an inherent fault in it so they recalled 2 million cars for a free respray! Can't image Ford doing that...

That's like an old problem where the bumper rubs against the panel. I'm sure they rectified that problem with some vinyl strip in between to stop rubbing on the older models so maybe they missed that out in production. Defo down to ill fitting so should be covered.

Just had a closer look, paint is chipped on the inner edge of wheel arch, liner is not fitted the best with, a couple of mm gap to the arch.....🤨
