Mk3 Focus Indicator/High Beam

Hi, when I try and turn on the indicators by pushing up or down on the stalk (not the short 3 flash) they don’t stay on and the high beam headlights come on. Is this a faulty indicator stalk?

    Yes cos pulling towards puts on the full beam so guess something is wrong.

    Any idea how I can remove the indicator stalk? I can get the plastic top off of the steering column but there looks like some metal screw-like retainers that need removing too? Are these easy to remove and will this give access to the stalk for removal?

    Never had to do it myself but if you watch this gives you a general idea. Only focus one I could find 

    Also below is one removed if you study the pics will give you a better idea.
