Rattle and....Moan???

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Not sure if I can explain it very well. Recently on my Diesel ST
I seem to get a higher pitched droning noise, separate from the engine noise when car is driven at approx 2k rev mark. This is also very apparent when travelling on motorway at 120kph (75mph) with cruise on...coincidentally that has the car at approx 2k revs as well. I start to accelerate and the noise disappears....i brake slightly the noise disappears.
I went looking for it and the only thing I can identify at the moment is a rattle coming from the part circled in red below......I dont think its a root cause but something I noted. I also marked where the cable coming from it disapears down into the engine bay

Any ideas or suggestion would be great. The car is in for a service next week, but Im just slightly wondering what the part at least even is? Its not part of the engine, but maybe air/fuel/ pump?
