Cleaning the Air condition with cleaning foam - Mk2

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just bought CRC airco cleaner pro (foam), and a new Mann FreciousPlus cabin filter. I want to clean the air condtioning system as good as possible since it smells mouldy becouse previous owner obviously didn't clean it for a long time. I found some directions online on how to use it (https://www.motoelectrical.co.uk/uploads/documents/TCA3_AIRCOCLEAN.pdf), where it says to remove the pollen filter and to spray into the inlet channel. I know how to remove the pollen filter and access the condenser that way, but am unsure if the directions are talking about spraying into the aircondition inlet for recirculation of air or maybe the one for the outside air or directly onto the condesener from where the pollen filter is removed. So can someone tell me where the air recirulation inlet and fresh air intake are on the left hand drive Focus Mk2? Also where is the AC condense drain hose located since some apply the foam to the condenser through it?

I also saw few videos on youtube of people not only using the cleaner directly on condenser but also through the cabin vents which probably cleanse it even better but I am afraid it could damage any electronic parts, for example blower fan. Since I really don't want to damage the blower fan which has exposed  motor I was looking at climate control unit scheme on 7 zap (posted on the picture below) where I can locate the blower fan and also the hole where you can access the pollen filter but can't figure out the air flow direction in order to know if applying foam through the vents will reach the blower before the condenser or the condenser before the blower (see piciture below). So does anyone know the air direction?

And most importantly has anyone used the foam AC cleaner and if so how did you use in on your Focus Mk2?

Thank you very much for all your help and replies.

sorry to bump so fast, but I am planning to do this today so anyone?

Apply spray from inside of the cabin through each of the airducts. Pollen filter is located at the driver side footwell, next to the gas pedal. You need to remove the gas pedal (but do not remove the connector plug) and after remove the filter.

There are few youtube videos on how to do both.

Thanks for the reply I know how to remove the pollen filter and saw the youtube videos. I am just afraid of damaging the blower which could be located between the condenser and the airducts (it looks like it on the picture in my first post) and therefore if I would apply the foam through airducts it would need to go through the blower to reach the condenser (condenser is the dirtiest part becouse all of the water that sits there) which could in turn damage the blower motor., so I really need to find out if that is the case. I Hope I am clear enough. Thanks
