Erratic idle

Featured Replies

Hi new member first post

I've purchase a Ford ka 1.2 zetec 2012   60k mileage

The car starts and drives perfectly fine but I've noticed on idling ie when at traffic Lights the car ticks over very erratically.
So I had it serviced Bosch plugs leads coil pack to no avail,
So I sent it back again and had all new Injectors fitted and also swapped the throttle body also to no avail, I'm at the point now of not knowing what's directing to go . I'm told it could be a ECU fault

It's really difficult because the car drives perfect ,
Also to mention the stop start as never worked since I owned it , it just shows the unavailable message at the point where it would normally kick in.

Not sure if it linked to the stuttering idle or not.
I don't no what direction to go next and neither does the garage I use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Idle air control valve 👍

Diagnostics need to be done on it rather than just throwing parts at it.  Plugs and coil pack are alright without diags, but I wouldn't spend on injectors without having some evidence of it being them at fault.  I think Forscan will work on the Ka's?  I know they're technically Fiat 500s but the electronics must be all Ford compatible.

If it's only warm idle, it could be a lambda issue, though that should really throw a fault code.  If it's only cold idle, I'd suspect a temp sensor issue.  Could be quite a few things though, I really would recommend getting diags on it next.

Appreciate the replies, just to note the car idles badly even when hot , regarding their idle control valve I thought this was built into the throttle body that had already been changed, I’ve had the car plugged in twice now and didn’t pick up any stored faults .
I was thinking of sending my ECU to be tested next,

Hi how did you get this resolved had this problem March 20 paid £448 for a air map sensor , not even been 12 months and it’s doing it again. Surely this isn’t right for a 2015 car. Help please haven’t a clue
